Sworn Translation of Companies House Documents for Spain

I provide sworn translations into Spanish of Companies House and other UK company documents for official and professional use in Spain. Depending on the authority or procedure, a Spanish translation may be requested by a notary, registry, bank, lawyer, company, public authority or other institution.

The service is provided directly by Sergio Boix Mira, Spanish Sworn Translator-Interpreter of English No. 4473, appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I work online with clients in Spain and abroad. I can also translate Spanish company documents into English when required; requirements depend on the authority, institution or professional receiving the translation.

Companies House and UK company documents

Companies House is the United Kingdom’s registrar of companies. Its register contains company information and filed documents, while some certificates and certified copies can be ordered separately. I can review and translate the document you have been asked to provide, including:

  • Certificate of Incorporation and other company certificates;
  • Articles of Association and other constitutional documents;
  • Confirmation Statements and company information filings;
  • Company Accounts, annual accounts and other corporate financial documents;
  • Persons with Significant Control (PSC) information;
  • appointment or resignation of directors and other officer details;
  • registered office information, company status documents and company extracts;
  • filing history, share capital documents, company registers and relevant board or shareholder resolutions;
  • other official Companies House filings and UK company documents.

The document names, filing formats and information available vary. I review the actual document rather than assuming it has a direct equivalent in Spanish company law.

Certificate of Incorporation

A Certificate of Incorporation records the incorporation of a company under the relevant UK company-registration process. It may be requested in Spain as evidence relating to a UK company’s incorporation or existence. I can provide a sworn translation into Spanish. The receiving organisation decides whether this certificate is sufficient and whether additional documents or formalities are needed; it should not automatically be treated as identical to a particular Spanish certificate.

Articles of Association

Articles of Association set out a company’s internal rules and governance arrangements. A sworn Spanish translation may be requested for a notarial, banking, corporate, legal or administrative procedure in Spain. I preserve the UK terminology and structure in the translation and avoid imposing a Spanish-law equivalent where the concepts do not match exactly.

Confirmation Statement

A Confirmation Statement is a Companies House filing used to confirm that specified company information on the register has been reviewed. It is distinct from Company Accounts and from the historic Annual Return. If a Spanish recipient asks for a Confirmation Statement, send the document or request so I can confirm the appropriate scope and quote.

Company Accounts

Company Accounts and other financial statements may need to be translated when they are submitted in Spain for a corporate, banking, legal, due-diligence or administrative purpose. The documents required vary by company and procedure. Accounts are not the same as tax returns, and I will review the document set before confirming the quote.

Persons with Significant Control (PSC)

PSC information concerns people who own or control a company under the UK reporting framework. A translation may be requested in a corporate transaction, bank or compliance review, notarial matter or legal procedure. The relevant Companies House filing or supporting document can be reviewed and translated into Spanish.

Directors and company appointments

I translate documents about the appointment or resignation of directors, officer details and other company appointments. The UK term “director” should not automatically be replaced with “administrator”: the appropriate translation depends on the document and context.

Company extracts and filing history

Company extracts, official company details, filing-history documents, registers and filed records may be requested by Spanish authorities or professionals. Send the specific extract or filing you have been asked to provide; I can review it and confirm whether it falls within the translation request.

When might a Companies House translation be required in Spain?

A sworn translation may be requested for a notarial or property transaction, banking or compliance checks, corporate procedures, litigation, commercial contracts, tenders, registration procedures or due diligence. These are examples only: a sworn translation is not necessarily required in every case. Check the requirements with the authority or professional handling the procedure before ordering.

Spanish company documents translated into English

I can also translate Spanish company documents into English when required. Acceptance in the UK or elsewhere is not automatic. Requirements depend on the authority, institution or professional receiving the translation.

Do Companies House documents need an apostille?

It depends on the document, its intended use, the receiving authority and the procedure. Companies House documents do not always need an apostille, and it is not safe to assume that one is never required. An apostille or legalisation is separate from a sworn translation and is not replaced by it. Check the specific requirements with the recipient and the relevant issuing or legalising authority.

Can I send a PDF or downloaded Companies House document?

Yes. You can send a clear PDF, scan or downloaded Companies House document by email or WhatsApp so I can review it and prepare a quote. A digital copy or printout may not be accepted for every procedure; confirm whether the recipient requires an original, certified copy or legalised document.
